Dear Palmerston North City Council,

Major roadworks on Ferguson Street at the Linton Street intersection in
Palmerston North were part of a larger safety improvement project that
concluded in late 2023.

Part of the redesign was the Ferguson and Linton Street intersection,
which was intended to be modified to a left-turn-only exit. Motorists were
to be no longer permitted to make right-hand turns from Linton Street onto
Ferguson Street to prevent crossing four lanes of high-speed traffic. At
the time, the plans shown and sent out to neighbouring properties clearly
showed a traffic island to be constructed to prevent the right-hand turn.

Why was this never completed, or modified to the extent that now, it is
only an "option" to not turn right, with just one small insignificant sign
designating this?

There is often traffic backed-up down Linton Street, because somebody at
the front of the queue wishes to turn right, or cross four lanes of
traffic.

Is this going to be rectified to the original 2023 plan?
