IN-CONFIDENCE

Kia ora John Luke,

On 24 February 2026, Oranga Tamariki received notification from the Office
of the Ombudsman (the Ombudsman) of a complaint you had made regarding not
receiving a response from Oranga Tamariki. This was in regard to a request
for information relating to Oranga Tamariki residence grievance panels,
which you had made via the FYI site on 1 December 2025.

On reviewing the complaint, we determined that the FYI site was not
forwarding requests to us as expected. Therefore, we did not receive your
request until we received it via the Ombudsman at the end of February
2026.

We considered the notification from the Ombudsman as receipt of your
request and prepared a response under the Official Information Act 1982.

On 13 March 2026, Oranga Tamariki provided the attached response to the
Ombudsman.  The Ombudsman advised us that they would forward the response
to you, and confirmed later the same day that the response had been duly
forwarded to you.

If for some reason you did not receive the response from the Ombudsman, we
apologise.

We have attached the documents that respond to your original request for
information relating to the recruitment for grievance panels.
