Appointment to Te Maioha o Parekarangi Grievance Panel
I am very pleased to advise you of your appointment to Te Maioha o Parekarangi
Grievance Panel based in Rotorua. Your appointment is for an open-ended term of
office with your tenure to be reviewed after your first three years, then two-yearly
thereafter.
Grievance panel members play an essential role in addressing concerns raised by
children and young people in residences, and as such, I take your appointment
seriously. I have high expectations of all panel members that includes regular
engagement with the children and young people and the delivery of high-quality
quarterly reporting. Panel members also help Oranga Tamariki ensure that it meets its
statutory obligations under the Oranga Tamariki (Residential Care) Regulations 1996.
More information about the role wil be shared with you as part of your induction.
The National Grievance Panel Coordinator wil be in contact with you and send you a
copy of the terms and conditions of your appointment plus other essential documents
you need to complete and return to them to formally acknowledge your appointment
to this panel. They wil also arrange a full induction to the role and wil connect you
with the Residence Manager at Te Maioha o Parekarangi residence who wil arrange
for your induction to the residence.
Thank you for agreeing to undertake this important role to ensure children and young
people in our care have their grievances heard and considered independently.
