Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
I hope this letter finds well.
I am travelling to India in Feb. I am currently on a student visa, it expires on March 31st. I am returning back to NZ on March 29th. However, I have completed my 1.5 year student visa and I'm entitled for a 3 years post study work visa once my student visa Expires. I have contacted Immigration NZ on October 24th 2025 to get clarification on whether there is any restrictions or Law that exist which would prevent an immigrant to enter NZ based on the above scenario. I have got confirmation from the Immigration officer that, I am legally allowed to enter NZ considering the fact that I still hold a valid visa when entering the country. Moreover, I'll be applying for my post study work visa in January and as per INZ visa processing time, I may already have my Post study work visa issued prior to my travel.
Based on the conversation I had with INZ, I applied for my transit visa from on my travel to India and had attached all the relevant documents. However, my visa got declined. I believe, there isnt any reason I cannot enter NZ as my visa is still valid and statement has been attested already over a phone convesation with INZ. Moreover, as referenced above, I may already have my post study work visa issued by that time.
I need to travel to India to visit my family and I would really appreciate if you could kindly shed light on this request.
Yours faithfully,
Smruthy
