Management of abandoned vehicle
Courtney Russ made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport
The request was successful.
From: Courtney Russ
Dear Auckland Transport,
This request is regarding a vehicle that has been abandoned at around 100 Mangahoe Road, Mount Wellington 1062. It is a black 2014 Nissan Juke with registration number JYM177. This has been reported to Auckland Transport on at least four occasions since June 2025 (case numbers 1126436, 1143558, PZ0M8, 11682128).
Please advise:
- How many complaints have been made about this vehicle being abandoned at this location.
- What steps have been taken to contact the owner, if any.
- When Auckland Transport intends to take further action regarding this vehicle if no contact is made with the owner.
More generally, the Auckland Transport website states "Vehicles aren't always removed while investigations take place." I would like to know what criteria are used to determine whether or not to remove an abandoned vehicle.
A member of the community has been advised that the abandoned vehicle can't be removed until the WOF and registration have been expired for 90 days - is this correct? If not, what criteria are used to determine abandonment?
Yours faithfully,
Courtney Russ
