assessment of the potential impacts of this move on New Zealand's
diplomatic and economic relationships with countries other than the United

(C) Has the Ministry (or other relevant government department) produced an
assessment of the potential impacts of this move on New Zealand's existing
law enforcement and security services arrangements?

 

(D) Has the Ministry (or other relevant government department) produced an
assessment of the potential impacts of this move on New Zealand's stated
commitment to an independent, rules-based foreign policy?

 

(2) Has the Ministry engaged in any internal discussion or consultation —
or discussion / consultation with other organisations — regarding the
opening of the FBI office? If so, does the Ministry possess any guidance,
reports, briefings with regards to this?

 

(3) What is the position of the Ministry in respect to the opening of the
effects of this move on New Zealand's stated commitment to an independent,
rules-based foreign policy?

We are writing in regards to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 2 August 2025 which asks for:

This email is to advise that we will need to extend the time limit for responding to you by 20 working days, to 26 September 2025. This is because of the consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time frame (section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA refers)
