At this stage, we need some information from you to confirm whether you
are eligible to make an OIA request.

 

Section 12(1) of the OIA specifies who can use it to seek information from
government agencies. You are eligible to make an OIA requests if you are
a:

(a)         New Zealand citizen; or

(b)         Permanent resident of New Zealand; or

(d)         Body corporate which is incorporated in New Zealand; or

Dear ESD,

I just received your email. I am disturbed that you are trying to delay responding in this manner and giving a ridiculously short deadline as an excuse to not respond. As you are doubtless aware FYI is a public platform, so I will NOT be posting my identifying documents protected by the Privacy Act on a public website.

Provide a phone number, and I am happy to call you (from New Zealand, obviously, as I am a New Zealand citizen and am in New Zealand). Alternatively I can make a house call at some point over the next few weeks at 195 Lambton Key, or the house in St Mary's Bay, or at your official Auckland office. If those options are inconvenient I could go around taking photos of New Zealand Police cars that you will be able to verify are unique and not taken off the internet? I feel all of these are reasonable ways to fulfill your frankly unreasonable and unjustified request.
