[FYI request #31325 email]
Tēnā koe Jason Smith
Thank you for your email of 17 June 2025 in which you request the following under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
the full contents of any email held on the MFAT email system sent in the past
year, that contains the following keyword:
residence
AND
Israel
AND
either of the following text strings, in full Ran Yaakoby OR Yaakoby, Ran OR Alon
Roth OR Roth, Alon OR Roth-Snir, Alon
If Alon Roth appears as 'Alon Roth-Snir', that should be included.
I am not concerned as to the case (lower or upper) of the text in question. I am
requesting the full contents of the emails, not a summary.
On 19 June 2025, we requested evidence from you of your eligibility to make OIA
requests. On 25 June 2025 you responded, inviting us to provide you with a phone
number to call to verify your presence in New Zealand and your New Zealand citizenship.
We responded to you on 26 June 2015 inviting you to send your proof of eligibility to our
public email address. We did not receive a response to this email.
The initial search of our email system using the parameters you requested generated
over 8000 emails that would need to be reviewed to determine if they were in scope of
your request. Given the large number of items that would need to be reviewed before
being prepared for release, your request is refused under section 18 (f) of the OIA, as
the information requested cannot be made available without substantial collation and
research.
Should you wish, you can resubmit you request with a more narrowly focused set of
parameters in the future.
Please note that it is our policy to proactively release our responses to official
information requests where possible. Therefore, our response to your request (with your
