Tēnā koe Noah Fitzgerald

I am writing concerning your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request
(reference 29351) of 3 May 2024, which asks for:

Could you please provide me with a list based on country and year of
consular loan payments made to New Zealanders overseas.

Could you please also provide me with the total outstanding balance across
all loans, the average loan amount, the highest loan amount and lowest
loan amount.

As your request is currently framed, it would capture a significant volume
of information.
As such, it is likely that your request will be refused under section
18(f) of the OIA, as it would require substantial collation and research.

Accordingly, I am seeking your agreement to refine the second part of your
request to be for:

Could you please provide me with a list based on country and
year of consular loan payments made to New Zealanders overseas from 2014
to date (3 May 2024)?

Could you please also provide me with the total outstanding balance across
all loans, the average loan amount, the highest loan amount and lowest
loan amount?

Can you please confirm if you agree to this rescope by 13 May 2024?

If you have any questions, you can contact us by email at: DM
[1][email address].

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision by contacting [2]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone
0800 802 602.
