Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

Kia ora koutou,

The International Court of Justice is engaged in proceedings brought by South Africa, which alleges Israel has violated the Genocide Convention in relation to the treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.

New Zealand citizens are currently in active service with the Israeli Defence Force, and have been since before 7 October 2023.

I would like to request the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC):

- Copies of any legal advice provided to the Attorney-General since 7 October 2023 relating to the potential involvement of New Zealand citizens in activities in Gaza that may constitute war crimes.

- Copies of any meeting agendas, minutes, or notes regarding meetings that have been attended by the Attorney-General relating to the potential involvement of New Zealand citizens in activities in Gaza that may constitute war crimes.

- Copies of any meeting agendas, minutes, or notes regarding meetings that have been attended by DMPC staff relating to the potential involvement of New Zealand citizens in activities in Gaza that may constitute war crimes.
