EWRB - Gazzette Issue and Failure for Electrical Inspectors
Kane Taylor made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Kane Taylor to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Kane Taylor
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
Can you please provide clarity around the issues faced with the failed Gazzette notice dated 1st Sept 2023 and the decision to place electrical inspectors registrations on hold/pending renewal instead of renewing.
I am an electrical inspector who as a result of my pending license can not carry out aspects of my job resulting in job losses and income.
- I can not re-new my Tesla certification for installing tesla Powerwall systems
- I can not gain an additional recognised industry training certification as the pre-requisite for gaining this qualification for Hazardous areas is to hold an electrical license.
- I have lost my assessor verification credentials with EarnLearn as my licence has expired and as a result they have suspected my ability to asses apprentices for their on-job units. This means they can no longer advance in their apprenticeship and are also technically in breach of their training agreements not working under a verified assessor.
These are some serious issues resulting in lost income for myself and my staff. The 'fix' to suspend licenses is a ridiculous option and I can not continue like this until Sept 2025 where there is supposedly a 'solution' in place.
1. What was the legal basis of the EWRB's work-around?
2. Please provide legal advice/opinions relating to the work-around.
3. What effect will 1 September 2025 have on the workaround (ie will it break? will it be needed? will something else be needed?)
4. What are the EWRB's plans for fixing this mess?
5. Will loss of income, consequential costs etc that are a direct result of the EWRB's error be compensated?
6. Why has it taken so long to do nothing effective to fix the issue?
Kind regards,
Kane Taylor
