wing patron OIA 2025
john luke made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
The request was successful.
From: john luke
Dear New Zealand Police,
I have made a request in 2023
John Luke of FYI IR 01 23 6274 response.pdf
May I seek an updates on the list of wing patron and their bio to 1st April 2025.
Also, can you kindly provide how many wing patron nominations or referrals you have received since 1st January 2023 and how many you have accepted and how many you have declined. Are there any nominations or referrals not yet decided by the Commissioner?
Additionally, how can individuals self-nominate or be nominated by the public to become a police wing patron? Alternatively, how does the police identify or select individuals to serve in this role?
Yours faithfully,
john luke

Kia ora John
I refer to your request below. I have been asked to advise you that Police requires an extension of time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). Specifically, section 15A(1)(b), consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
Police requires until 9 June 2025 to provide a substantive response to your request, however we are endeavouring to provide this to you as soon as possible.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to make a complaint to an Ombudsman about this extension. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Kind regards, Michelle
