Under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, I request the following information:
1. Funding awarded in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 financial years
To organisations or service providers delivering:
Food security initiatives (e.g. foodbanks, community meals, food rescue)
Housing support or homelessness response
Cost-of-living or welfare-based social services
Please provide:
Organisation name
Amount funded
Name of the funding programme or stream
A short description of what the funding supported
2. Planned funding for 2024/2025
Please include:
Any budgeted or forecasted funding for these types of services
Funding programmes or focus areas for the upcoming financial year
Any confirmed or indicative allocations
Spreadsheet format is preferred if available.

On 9 April 2025, you requested the following information, under the Local
Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):
1. Funding awarded in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 financial years to
organisations or service providers delivering (including Organisation
name, amount funded, name of the funding programme or stream, a short
description of what the funding supported):
a. Food security initiatives (e.g. foodbanks, community meals, food
rescue)
b. Housing support or homelessness response
c. Cost-of-living or welfare-based social services
2. Planned funding for 2024/2025, including;
a. Any budgeted or forecasted funding for these types of services
b. Funding programmes or focus areas for the upcoming financial year
c. Any confirmed or indicative allocations
d. Spreadsheet format is preferred if available
Release of information
In regards to your first question. Please find attached the following
information:
1. Funding awarded in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 financial years
relating to food security initiatives
2. Funding awarded in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 financial years
relating to Housing support or homelessness
3. Funding awarded in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 financial years
relating to Cost-of-living or welfare-based social services
In regards to your second question, there are a small number of relevant
multi-year agreements in place for:
o Christchurch Methodist Central Mission - $25,000 – community social
services
o Christchurch Community Accounting – $25,000 - financial support for
those hard-done-by
o Youthline Central South Island - $25,000 – youth suicide hotline
o Community law canterbury - $20,000 – financial social support
o Cholmondeley Children's Centre Charitable Trust - $20,000 – Social
services for children in dangerous home environments
These fit into the ‘welfare-based social services’ category, and will be
paid (provided all accountability criteria is met) in July 2025.
For all other decisions, grants made are ‘contestable’. Due to this, no
decisions will be made until Councillors and Community Board Members meet
in Mid-August to allocate funding. Until that time, no decisions have been
made yet, but when they do, this information will be publicly available
with the decision made within the Council meeting and the funding
information updated on our public website here: [1]Community funding :
Christchurch City Council. Due to this we will be declining this part of
the request under the following sections of the LGOIMA:
o 17(d) – the information requested is or will soon be publicly
available
o 17(e) – the information requested does not exist or cannot be found

Please note: our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Christchurch
City Council website a month after they have been responded to, with
