Kiwibuild programme - underwrites triggered
Jack Jones made this Official Information request to Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities
The request was successful.
      From: Jack Jones

    Dear Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities,
I see that Kainga Ora is currently selling homes that have been purchased because of the Kiwibuild programme - the reference is in this NZ Herald article: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/crow...
I request under the Official Information Act 1982 the following information:
1. How many homes has the Kiwibuild programme built and sold?
2. How many homes have been purchased by the Crown through the Kiwibuild programme?
3. What is the cost to the Crown for those purchases?
4. What is the outcome of trying to sell the homes that the Crown has had to purchase?
5. What happens to the homes if they are not sold?
6. It has been reported that the Kiwibuild programme has been shut down - so who is managing all this activity from the Kiwibuild programme?
I await your response within 20 working days of the receipt of this
request. If any part of my request is unclear, or if the information is
held by another department or agency, I would appreciate your assistance
in directing this request to the appropriate party.
Yours faithfully,
Jack Jones

    Dear Government Services,
Thank you for your acknowledgement.
So I am understanding your response to question 6 correctly, are you saying that the responsibilities for managing the residual activity has already been transferred to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, as the Ministers press release indicated a timeframe by June 2025?
If the responsibilities have not already been transferred, who is continuing to manage the process of the sale of the homes?
Yours sincerely,
Jack Jones
