Dear Hon. Minister,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing regarding my Official Information Act (OIA) request, which explicitly included the portfolios you held at the time the information was created or received.
As per the provisions of the OIA, if you no longer hold the requested information, you are required to inform me of the individual or entity that currently holds it. Additionally, I would like to note that, under the Public Records Act, this information remains public record and should therefore still be retained and accessible, even if you are no longer the Minister.
This is really basic information management, and I would hope that such standards are being adhered to in the interest of transparency and accountability.
I kindly request that you provide this information to ensure compliance with the relevant legislative requirements and facilitate access to the requested material.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew P

From: Andrew P
Dear Simeon Brown (MIN),
I am writing to express my concern and disappointment regarding the significant delay in the response to my Official Information Act (OIA) request, which was due by 8 April. As of today, the response is not only overdue but has exceeded the statutory timeframe by a considerable margin.
Under the Official Information Act, a response is required within 20 working days. Any failure to meet this deadline is a clear breach of the Act, which I find unacceptable. The continued delay in providing the requested information is not only a violation of the law but also undermines the public’s right to transparency and accountability.
I am requesting immediate clarification on why my request has not been fulfilled, as well as an explanation for this unlawful delay. Additionally, I expect a firm commitment to when the information will be provided, as further delay is simply not tolerable.
If there are any exceptional circumstances causing this delay, I would expect them to be clearly communicated. However, it is important to note that regardless of any challenges, the legal obligation to respond on time remains.
I expect to receive your response without further delay.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew P

Dear Andrew P
Thank you for your email, and I apologise for the delay in responding to your Official Information Act request.
An administrative oversight occurred in the handling of your request, which unfortunately resulted in it not being transferred in a timely manner.
As your request more closely relates to the functions of the Minister of Transport, it is now being formally transferred under section 14(b)(ii) of the Official Information Act 1982 to Hon Chris Bishop, Minister of Transport. His office will provide a response in due course.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
If you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
