From: Kristina Temel
Dear Chris Blythe,
On Monday 3 August 2015, the Ministry for the Environment transferred to the Electoral Commission part of your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request relating to the breakdown for the cost of consultation on the change of flag.
However, the Electoral Commission is not responsible for the consultation on the flag.
If the New Zealand Flag Referendum Bill 2015 is passed, the Electoral Commission will be responsible for conducting the flag referendums. However, public consultation has been undertaken by the Flag Consideration Panel which has been provided support and advice by a project secretariat located within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Accordingly, I have transferred this aspect of your OIA request to Cabinet Office for action in accordance with section 14 of the OIA.
Yours sincerely
Kristina Temel
