I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing to request detailed information regarding the travel time and speed of your freight services between Auckland and Wellington. Specifically, I would like to know:
1. The total average travel time for freight services from Auckland to Wellington.
2. The typical speed of the train on each section of the journey, assuming no speed restrictions are in place.

We received your request on 17 August 2024, and will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than 13 September 2024, i.e. the 20 working days after the day your request was received. I refer to your official information request dated 17 August 2024, for information on travel times for freight services between Auckland and Wellington.
The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the date we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to 20 September 2024.
This extension is necessary because of consultations necessary to make a decision on your request.
