I refer to your request of 22 July 2024, as amended. The University’s
response follows:

 

“I am writing to request information under the Official Information Act
1982.

Specifically, I am seeking the following information:

1. The average grades for all papers offered by the University of Auckland
in the 2023 academic year.

2. If readily available, the distribution of grades for each of these
papers.”

“I would just like to follow-up my previous email to clarify that standard
deviations would be suffice for the second part of the request
(distribution of grades)."

 

The requested information about the distribution of grades for all taught
courses offered by the University of Auckland in the 2023 academic year is
attached, subject to the following:

 

o The information requested for courses with low numbers of students is
withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA to protect the privacy of
the students to whom it relates.

 

The University does not hold the requested information about average
grades; you can create these and other statistics using the information
provided to you for this request if you wish. This constitutes a partial
refusal of your request under section 18(g) of the OIA.

 

You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with the University’s response.
