Minutes of Northland Mayoral Forum meeting June 2024
Jane Reed made this Official Information request to Whangarei District Council
The request was successful.

    Dear Whangarei District Council,
Can you please provide the minutes of the Northland Mayoral Forum meeting for June 2024
Can you please explain what "discreet power generation" is?
Given recent concerns raised by the media, regarding China's influence in New Zealand, have concerns been raised or addressed by the Mayoral forum as to South Island Resource Recovery or SIRRL majority ownership by China Tianying Ltd and direct links back to the Chinese Communist Party with SIRRL director Debiao Cao & Chairman of China Tianying Ltd Sheng Jun Yan?
Given Aucklands disinterest in providing waste for the proposed WtE plant, how much of rate payers money is to be invested in feasibility investigations into a WtE plant?
Given a WtE plant has at best 20% efficiency in generating minimal energy, can you please provide understanding as to the consideration of WtE in providing "discreet power generation?"
How much revenue was generated in the 2024 financial year for WDC with its shareholding in Puwera Landfill?
Yours faithfully,
Jane Reed

    Tēnā koe Ms Reed,

I refer to your request of 10 July 2024 for information regarding the
Northland Mayoral Forum.  Your request was referred to council’s Democracy
and Assurance Department, and the Parks and Recreation Department for
 consideration.

Can you please provide the minutes of the Northland Mayoral Forum meeting
 for June 2024
Please see attached.

Can you please explain what "discreet power generation" is?  The following
comments were provided by Council’s Parks and Recreation Department, and
are by no means an official definition – My understanding of discrete
power is it is a system made up of individual components as opposed to an
integrated system. The term mostly applies to circuitry.

Given recent concerns raised by the media, regarding China's influence in
New Zealand, have concerns been raised or addressed by the Mayoral forum
as to South Island Resource Recovery or SIRRL majority ownership by China
Tianying Ltd and direct links back to the Chinese Communist Party with
SIRRL director Debiao Cao & Chairman of China Tianying Ltd Sheng Jun Yan?
Council is not aware of any.
