Dear Department of Internal Affairs,

I need the following information for learning purposes.

It is a requirement of citizenship application that applicants must show their intentions to continue living in New Zealand after the grant of citizenship. Section 8, subpart (2) f of the Citizenship Act 1977 states the following:

"that the applicant intends, if granted New Zealand citizenship, either—
(i) to continue to reside in New Zealand; or
(ii) to enter into or continue in Crown service under the New Zealand Government, or service under an international organisation of which the New Zealand Government is a member, or service in the employment of a person, company, society, or other body of persons resident or established in New Zealand."

In the above-mentioned section 8 (2) f (ii), what is the meaning of "service in the employment of a person, company, society, or other body of persons resident or established in New Zealand."
Does that mean the applicant can prove their intentions to live in New Zealand if they work for any New Zealand employer?

Please help me to understand this section of the Act.

Yours faithfully,
Surinder Singh
