Assault on government (frontline) employees

James Kent made this Official Information request to Mark Mitchell

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for James Kent to read recent responses and update the status.

From: James Kent

Dear Mark Mitchell,

As you may know, over the course of the past few years, incidents of assault and abuse against frontline employees have skyrocketed. Police, Parking Wardens, Council Employees, EMS Staff, have been victim to ever-increasing instances of abuse.

Do you have any information to whether or not you will be proposing legislation (be it by yourself, or in co-operation with others) to reduce the number of unacceptable assaults against frontline staff by significantly increasing penalties for such actions? Supposedly, one was put forward years ago, only to be voted down.

Yours faithfully,

James Kent
