Payment of parking fines during and after the Parliament Protest 2022
Bruce made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council
The request was refused by Wellington City Council.
From: Bruce
Dear Wellington City Council,
In the IPCA's publication called the Parliament Protest Review (April 2023) mention is made of the payment of parking fines issued by the WCC.
Section 594 says:
Police also worked in partnership with WCC to have vehicles ticketed for parking illegally from 15 February, but some of the fines were swiftly paid by those funding the protest, so this proved ineffective in getting vehicles moved.
If I'm correct, evidence that elements of the protest were being funded in the manner of parking fines being paid by people other than the registered owners would have been supplied to the IPCA by the WCC. Consequently, I would like all documents that refer to parking fines being paid in such a manner.
Yours faithfully,
Bruce
