Official Information request – Protest parking fines 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings 
Act 1987 (the Act), received on 23 December 2023. You requested the fol owing information: 
  •  Evidence that elements of the protest were being funded in the manner of parking fines 
being paid by people other than the registered owners would have been supplied to the 
IPCA by the WCC.  Consequently, I would like al  documents that refer to parking fines 
being paid in such a manner. 
 
Wellington City Council has refused your request for information. 
 
Wellington City Council (WCC) has previously provided a publicly released information request 
regarding the protest at Parliament in 2022. You can find the publicly released information on our 
website. 
 
This information request covers the statistics of the infringements issued, the infringements paid 
by date and also contains the communications regarding the protest. 
 
We are unable to provide further information on individual infringements as this would breach 
privacy, therefore your request has been refused under section 7(2)(a) of the Act, as it contains 
personal information about private individuals. 
 
Right of review 
If you are not satisfied with the Council’s response, you may request the Office of the Ombudsman 
to investigate the Council’s decision. Further information is available on the Ombudsman website, 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
