HSFY 2023 Domestic Averages

E.C made this Official Information request to University of Otago

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for E.C to read recent responses and update the status.

From: E.C

Dear University of Otago,

I would like to request, when available, a distribution of the HSFY individual averages across the best 7 papers (accounting for the 8th papers) for the top 200 domestic students only, with specified percentages. Please also exclude those with a HSFY core paper less than 70%, and if possible, those that did not meet the UCAT MB ChB thresholds set in 2023 for 2024 admission.

I would also like to request for the number of applicants for the MB ChB 2024 admission, and how many of those have passed the UCAT thresholds set. Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Dear University of Otago,

In clarification of the number of applicants to the MB ChB 2024 in the request above, I specifically mean HSFY applicants. I would also like to add an additional request, breaking the number of applicants down into all its relevant specific subcategories applied (i.e. Maori, NZRIPO, Rural etc.). Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

E.C

Tēnā koe EC

I refer to your information request dated 13 December 2023 made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to HSFY results in 2023 and the number of applicants to the 2024 MB ChB programme via the HSFY category (broken down by equity group).

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the date your request was received. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify you, pursuant to section 15A of the Act, of an extension of the time to make our decision in respect of your request, by a further 10 working days - to Friday 16 February.

This extension is necessary both (i) your request necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with our operations, and (ii) to allow for consultations necessary to make a decision on your request. We also note that results from the 2023 HSFY papers have not been fully confirmed yet as there are student results outstanding. We thank you for your patience and apologise for the delay. We will endeavour to provide our decision sooner if possible.

If you are not satisfied with our extension of time, you have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.

Ngā mihi
Kelsey
