Kia ora Bruce,

On 17 June you made requests under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) for the following information:

" I would like to request any documents relating to the operation of the NZ Police Eagle helicopters at night that address the use of anti-collision lights on the helicopter."

The OIA requires that the CAA advise you of its decision regarding your request no later than 20 working days after the day the received your request. It is not possible to meet that time limit and we are writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to 19 December 2023 (being an additional 20 working days).

This extension is necessary because your request for information requires substantial collation and we find it necessary to consult with external parties regarding the information that you have requested. That said, we will endeavour to provide you with the information requested as soon as practicable.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Dear OIA,

Thank you for you response which provides a statement regarding an exemption for Advanced Flight Ltd using anti-collision lights when acting as Eagle.

However, I refer you the initial request which requires all documents relating to this subject. As best I can see, there are no documents attached to today's response. Am I to take from your response that you're claiming a Section 18 (e) exemption?

Yours sincerely,

Bruce
