I would like to request any documents relating to the operation of the NZ Police Eagle helicopters at night that address the use of anti-collision lights on the helicopter.

I acknowledge receipt of your official information request to the CAA for the following –
" I would like to request any documents relating to the operation of the NZ Police Eagle helicopters at night that address the use of anti-collision lights on the helicopter."
We received your request on 25/10/2023 We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than 22 November 2023, being 20 working days after the day your request was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will notify you of an extension of that timeframe.

Kia ora Bruce,
On 17 June you made requests under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) for the following information:
" I would like to request any documents relating to the operation of the NZ Police Eagle helicopters at night that address the use of anti-collision lights on the helicopter."
The OIA requires that the CAA advise you of its decision regarding your request no later than 20 working days after the day the received your request. It is not possible to meet that time limit and we are writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to 19 December 2023 (being an additional 20 working days).
This extension is necessary because your request for information requires substantial collation and we find it necessary to consult with external parties regarding the information that you have requested. That said, we will endeavour to provide you with the information requested as soon as practicable.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
