5 Eyes forum topic of UAP

N. S. Hudson made this Official Information request to New Zealand Security Intelligence Service

New Zealand Security Intelligence Service did not have the information requested.

From: N. S. Hudson

Dear New Zealand Security Intelligence Service,

On the 31 May 2023, Sean Kirkpatrick the head of the US All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) team, told a public NASA meeting on UAP, that in the previous week he had met with the Five Eyes which includes the NZ, to discuss Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), data collection and collaboration.

Please can you tell me:

i) Did the NZSIS take part in this meeting mentioned above?

ii) As the NZSIS, NZDF and the CAA have either stated they have no information on UAP's, or retreival programs of seized UAPs, has the NZSIS offered to assist with collaboration on UAP/USO data collection and analysis? If so, what does this entail?

iii) Has there been a risk assessment investigation for UAP or Unidentified Submerged Objects (USO) regarding our territorial airspace and waters?

iv) Has there been any documentation sent to NZSIS regarding:
a)"UAP#20", which was engaged by the U.S. on February 10,2023; or
b) "UAP#23", which was engaged by the U.S. on February 11,2023, where a Norad F22 Raptors successfully engaged with these UAP's in Canadian Airspace under NORAD authorities?
c) The 26th February 2016 incident in Pentyrch, Wales with a UAP being engaged by military forces?

v) Has there been any communication via the 5 Eyes network; regarding UAP, being aerial, or USO's (Unidentified Submersible Objects), or of a crash retrieval program regarding UAP's and /or USO's?

Yours faithfully,

N. S. Hudson

Tçnâ koe,

Further to our email of Tuesday 3 October, we require confirmation of eligibility before we are able to accept your request. If you do not provide us with proof of eligibility by Friday 13 October, we will be unable to accept your request at this time. However, you would be welcome to re-submit your request with the required evidence of eligibility at any time.

We ask for assurance that a requester is eligible to make a request under section 12 of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) before proceeding with requests. The requirement to provide assurance is unrelated to the question/s being asked. The assurance we seek is that which is enough to make clear that you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or are in New Zealand. One way to do this is to provide supporting documentation like a copy of a New Zealand driver licence, or passport, or utility bill. This could be emailed directly to us via [NZSIS request email].

If you do not want to provide evidence of your eligibility to make a request to us directly, you are welcome to contact the Office of the Ombudsman and provide confirmation of eligibility to them, or ask FYI.org to make a request on your behalf (refer to “Can I make an OIA request using a pseudonym?” on https://fyi.org.nz/help/privacy). Once we are satisfied that your request meets the requirements under section 12(1) of the OIA we will be able to proceed.

If you are not already aware, you may be interested in guidance by the Office of the Ombudsman about making requests online. This guidance is available at: https://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/site...

You may complain to the Inspector-General of Security and Intelligence if you feel you have, or may have been adversely affected by any act, omission, practice, policy, or procedure of an intelligence and security agency. Their contact details can be found at: https://igis.govt.nz/.

Ngâ mihi,
NZSIS

Dear OIA Privacy,

Hi,

Sorry for part ii, 'have we offered to collaborate', that doesn't mean have we got any information but have we offered to collaborate? Or has one of the 5 eyes partners' asked if NZ would like to collaborate? I am aware the US has been asking it's '5 eyes partners' and Australia has declined per the Sydney Herald and an OIA request. I would rather obviously not waste your valuable time, I am unaware if it's all how I ask the question as to whether I get the answer I'm looking for, but the FYI website does say try to reword it if we are unsuccessful. How do I find which NZ departments are involved with the 5 Eyes program, or 'on the 5 Eyes emailing list'?

Yours sincerely,

N. S. Hudson
