Dear Mr Innes,

I refer to your official information request dated 12 September 2023 asking for information relating to the District Plan.

The information you have requested is as follows.

•Please supply all GIS data relating to sites and areas of significance to Maori as well as papakainga for the District Plan.

The Whanganui District Council District Plan is publicly available information and can be accessed at the following link. https://data.whanganui.govt.nz

There are no Papakainga areas specifically zoned. The maps (Eplan) contain pinned references (blue pins with numbers alongside), which refer to Archaeological and Wâhi Tûpuna sites. Once selected, relevant zoning information opens up on the left side of the screen and leads to details of the sites (contained in Appendix K).

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

If you wish to discuss this decision with us, please feel free to contact me on 06 349 0001 or by return email.

Yours sincerely

Hayley Fitzgerald
