Dear OIA_Requests (MSD),
The point of the question specific to ohakune is due to the large social development that has been proposed in Ohakune, so the question is valid and requires the numbers specific to Ohakune.
There is wide public interest in the answer and breakdown as which has been reported in the news multiple times and on saveohakune.com
We have verbally been provided the number of people and also been provided the number via email from kainga ora. So I ask again, in the public’s interest, to provide this figure so to validate the huge need that agencies say is there but cannot be proven.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy

Tēnā koe Barry Murphy,
Thank you for your email. The Ministry are currently considering your initial request, and your follow up email regarding the public interest in the breakdown of the numbers of households and individuals on the housing waitlist in Ohakune.
As advised in your response dated 14 September 2023, low numbers may potentially lead to individuals being identified.
If you wish to discuss this response with us, please feel free to contact [MSD request email].

Dear OIA_Requests (MSD),
I don’t see how the number of people could identify those waiting. There is no need to hold this back as there is no identifiers by providing the anonymous information

Dear OIA_Requests (MSD),
Please provide justification as to how people could be identified by having this information, or how it puts anyone at risk?
We have already obtained the number of people in ohakune on the waitlist, so don’t understand.
Yours sincerely,
Barry Murphy

Tçnâ koe Barry Murphy,
We refer to your request of 3 August 2023, regarding the Public Housing
Register in Ohakune.
Following discussion with the Ombudsman’s office, we have decided to
reconsider our original decision on your request. We now consider there
overriding public interest in releasing this information, in the
circumstances of this request. Therefore, I can confirm for you that at
the time of your request, there were 11 households waiting for public
housing in Ohakune, made up of 38 people. These 11 households were
comprised of:
o 4 single person households.
o 4 single person households with 1 or 2 children.
o 3 single or two person households with 3 or more children.
We hope this satisifies your original request.
