Lane Traffic Count Data : SH2, southbound, Ngaranga off ramp
Darren Conway made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency
New Zealand Transport Agency did not have the information requested.
From: Darren Conway
Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,
The SH2, southbound, Ngauranga off-ramp splits into 3 lanes before the traffic lights on the Hutt Road intersection. One lane turns left and south onto Hutt Road. Two lanes go straight and west.
This request is for:
• the most recent traffic count data that separately recorded traffic from the off-ramp turning left and traffic going straight.
• data recorded after 2010 (maximum data age).
• data in a .CSV file or other Excel compatible format.
• a data dictionary to define each column of data (what it is, units, etc)
The information sought does not appear to be included in the State highway traffic monitoring data. The monitor on the off-ramp appears to count all traffic in all lanes.
It is requested that the data is not conflated in any way. If the original data is recorded by the minute, every 15min, or other, then that is the data requested.
If the data recorded and identified heavy vehicles or other types, that data is requested.
Yours faithfully,
Darren Conway

Thank you for your e-mail of 4 July 2023 requesting traffic count data
from the southbound offramp (to Hutt Road) on SH2 at Ngauranga. Your
request is being considered in accordance with the Official Information
Act 1982.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is unable to provide traffic data from the
three lanes at the bottom of the Ngauranga Gorge, as a physical counter
site does not exist on the offramp to Hutt Road/SH2. Waka Kotahi could,
however, provide traffic data from the three sites illustrated in the map
below – i.e. from the Newlands Interchange southbound, the northbound SH2
onramp, and from SH1 Ngauranga just over the flyover:
Traffic data can also be accessed from the sites illustrated in the map
below, by visiting our State highway traffic monitoring site at
[1]https://maphub.nzta.govt.nz/public/?appi...
Can you please clarify if you would like to obtain traffic count data from
the three sites on SH1 and SH2, as illustrated in the first map. It would
be great to hear back from you by 4.00pm Thursday 13 July 2023.
