Monitoring Cameras - Hikvision - NZTA
Adam Irish made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency
The request was successful.
From: Adam Irish
Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,
I am writing to request information under the Official Information Act 1982 about the number of cameras that the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) uses to monitor roads and public spaces.
In particular, I would like to know how many of these cameras are made by the company Hikvision. As you may be aware, Hikvision is a Chinese manufacturer that has been banned in some countries due to concerns about potential cybersecurity risks and links to human rights abuses.
Therefore, my specific request is for the following information:
How many cameras does NZTA currently use to monitor roads and public spaces?
Of these cameras, how many are made by Hikvision?
If this information is available, I would also appreciate any further details regarding the use and maintenance of these cameras and if they will be phased out.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
Adam Irish
