Tēnā koe John,

Thank you for your email of 5 March 2023, asking for the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):

1. The job description for the Chief of Tikanga role
2. The remuneration, or remuneration range paid to the Chief of Tikanga
role
3. The number of direct and indirect reports to the Chief of Tikanga
4. The total remuneration paid to all the direct and indirect reports to
the Chief of Tikanga
5. All other costs incurred by Health New Zealand related to Tikanga
6. The total number of roles across Health New Zealand and it's
subsidiaries / DHBs that are directly or indirectly involved in Tikanga

This email is to let you know that Te Whatu Ora needs more time to make a
decision on your request.

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to 28 April.

This extension is required because the consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [1][Health New Zealand request email]

If you are not happy with this extension, you have the right to make a
complaint to the Ombudsman. Information about how to do this is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by phoning 0800 802 602.

Dear hnzOIA,

Please can you advise a more precise timeframe for replying to this request because "as soon as reasonably possible" is a bit vague.

Yours sincerely,

Looking at Section 15(1)(a), it does allow the extension of requests for the full ability to compile the information needed for the requests (obviously needing the cooperation of more internal depts etc), however other than informing of whether they 'accept' the request asap/or in 20 days, it doesn't actually stipulate whether they must give/set timeframes beyond giving request extensions every 20 days (& even this seems implied).
FYI, direct from the Act; as soon as reasonably practicable, and in any case not later than 20 working days after the day on which the request is received by that department or venture or Minister of the Crown or organisation,—
(a) decide whether the request is to be granted and, if it is to be granted, in what manner and for what charge (if any);
