Request for Information on Capability Modelling Under the Official Information Act.

Adam Irish made this Official Information request to Ministry of Defence

The request was successful.

From: Adam Irish

Dear Sir or Madam,

Pursuant to the Official Information Act, I respectfully request access to any briefing, internal memos, or documents that have been created to review, model, or recommend improvements to the New Zealand military's capability in the event of a potential conflict with the People's Republic of China. This request is prompted by the hypothetical scenario of New Zealand being drawn into a conflict in the event of an attack by the PRC on Taiwan, followed by an attack on a military asset of Australia and the activation of New Zealand's ANZUS treaty obligations.

Furthermore, I would like to know if New Zealand's current defense budget as a percentage of GDP is in line with the recommended 2% for NATO partners. If not, I request the current percentage to be provided.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

Adam Irish
