Dear Oia Officer,

I am writing to follow up on my Official Information Act (OIA) request dated 10/02/2023, which I have not received a response for yet. As per the OIA, government organisations are required to respond to requests for information within 20 working days. However, it has now been 21 working days since I submitted my request and I am yet to receive a response from your organisation.

I would like to remind you that this delay is unacceptable and constitutes a breach of the OIA. I would appreciate an explanation for the delay and an estimated timeline for when I can expect to receive the information I requested.

Please be aware that I reserve the right to make a complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman if I do not receive a response within a reasonable timeframe.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and receiving the information I requested.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Laing

Kia ora Mr Laing

Apologies for the delay in responding to your request, some staff absences
contributed to the delay and I apologise that notification of our
requirement for an extension was also not sent out in time. This was an
oversight at our end.

Please find attached a spreadsheet outlining the payments made by NZ Post
to the UPU and APPU from 2018 – 2022. We have not provided data regarding
payments to the IPC as this a voluntary designated operator commercial
body in which NZ Post has chosen to participate on commercial terms and
the information is commercially sensitive, and therefore withheld under
section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Official Information Act. You have the right
under section 28(3) of the OIA to complaint to the Ombudsman over our
decision to withhold this information.
