Collisions between active mode users

Tim Adriaansen made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Auckland Transport should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Tim Adriaansen

Dear Auckland Transport,

In a recent safety assessment conducted by Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency, the agency concluded there was "a significant risk of a death or serious injury to active users" in a particular shared-path use case.

Auckland has several paths of similar length, width and gradient as the proposed shared path in this assessment, which suggests that if the assessment is accurate, then such a risk is likely to have occurred frequently across the transport network.

Please may I have a record of the total number of collisions between active mode users of all types (please include user type information), the type of collision (head on, side-swipe etc.) and the severity (minor, serious, fatal) for each of the following, since opening of the facility or over the last 5 years (please note: a spreadsheet export of CAS data with this information for these locations would be a suitable response):
- Nelson Street Cycleway
- Grafton Gully Shared Path
- Glenn Innes to Tamaki Drive Stage 1

May I also please have a summary of the total number of collisions between active mode users (pedestrian vs cyclist, cyclist vs cyclist, e-scooter vs pedestrian etc) across the Auckland region which resulted in either a serious injury or death, by year, for each of the last 5 years.

Yours faithfully,

Tim Adriaansen

Dear AT Official Information (AT),

Thank you for your response.
Please note that the information sent through to me in response to this request in no way addresses or answers the LGOIMA request which I sent through on July 6th, and later referred to on July 18th, which was a request for crash analysis data between road users outside of a vehicle. For completeness, I will copy the entire request below.

While I understand this was likely due to a clerical error, I am now requesting that you expedite this request as it is long overdue. This data should be relatively easy to export by anyone with access to the crash analysis system.

The original request is below from July 6 is below:

Thankyou,
Tim
