Dear BUS: Assurance,
Thank you for your response to my request for information regarding a claim made by Wellington City Council spokesperson Richard MacLean that, “we’ve received a lot of heat [from the public] so we feel compelled to act” as reported by the Stuff website on 4 July 2022 (your reference number IRC-3567).
Your response does not respond to my request. I have no idea what posts on Twitter.com you consider the to be the received 'heat' that compelled the Wellington City Council to act on Paul Eagle MP's election advertising. Your response provides me no information on whether any given post on Twitter.com was considered by the Wellington City Council as compelling evidence. As such the information is not public as I do not, and can not know, what information you are referring to.
Please identify which posts on on Twitter.com you are referring to or I will complain to the Ombudsman.
Alternatively if you have no records and/or Council staff cannot recall what posts on on Twitter.com were considered compelling at the time you may wish to reconsider your grounds for refusal.
Yours sincerely,
Richard Yossarian

Kia ora Richard,
The quote from Richard MacLean "we’ve received a lot of heat [from the public] so we feel compelled to act” was a general term to encompass that there had been complaints from the public regarding the billboards. Wellington City Council received a number of tweets from the public in relation to the sign, there was no specific "compelling evidence" which you have asked for.
For your reference, an example from Twitter is below. As previously advised this is all publicly available so we will not be providing further.
