Names of migrants
Alex Harris made this Official Information request to Prime Minister
The request was refused by Prime Minister.
From: Alex Harris
Dear Prime Minister,
On tonights TV One debate, the Prime Minister said (paraphrased) that only 80 people left New Zealand for Australia in the last (month?), and that "I know their names".
I would like to request the following information under the OIA:
* any briefings or communications the Prime Minister has received on the identity of people recently emigrating from New Zealand. Please note that I am not interested in the identities of those people, but in whether the Prime Minister has actually been told their names, and if so by who and for what reason.
As there is an election on at the moment, and this potentially raises significant questions around privacy, I ask that this request be handled urgently.
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris
