DECISION ON OFFICIAL INFORMATION REQUEST
 
I refer to your official information request dated 8 June 2022 for to the
 office of the Minister of Local Government, that was transferred to us to
 answer in accordance with Section 14(b) Official Information Act 1982.
 Your request was for the full results of all Mayoral elections held for
 Invercargill City Council from 1960-1989.
 
 
The information you have requested is enclosed in so far as we hold the
 records. Unfortunately there have been inconsistent legislative
 requirements about what records Council needs to hold. This has meant that
 a number of the records have been unable to locate in our official
 archives or the informal storage. The Documents attached are a mixture of
 the Declarations and Newspaper Public Notice of results.
 
However all declarations of results are required to be published in the
 Southland Times. We have attached a copy of those for you for your
 information- but they are not a document we hold under the Local
 Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (the Local
 Government version of the Official Information Act ).
