Distances of stations on the rail network

Patrick Dunford made this Official Information request to KiwiRail

The authority would like to / has responded by post to this request.

From: Patrick Dunford

Dear KiwiRail,

I draw my own maps of the current and historical railway network of NZ. I have already obtained from Kiwirail's site on ArcGIS the publicly downloadable and Creative Commons licensed shapefiles showing the locations of railway stations, track centre lines and kilometre posts for the KRL network.
For the purpose of comparison with other previous publications such as the "NZ Railway and Tramway Atlas" I would like to request the exact distances of each station on the network. This information has in past years been printed in "distance tables" in a few pages of the "Working Time Table" documents produced by previous operators of the Kiwirail network.
Apart from the most current lists I am also interested if available in the same data from a few years of Working Time Tables in the period 1974-1978 (specifically from the time that metrication first took place).

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Dunford

Afternoon Patrick.

My excellent sources have found this for you - I hope that is sufficient for your needs.

I'm afraid however that we don't have the data from 1974-78 (although a staff member might hold this for private use) - you might put a request up on the KiwiRail Facebook page to see if anyone might hold this.

Kind regards

Dave
