Previously we informed you that we would advise you of our decision on
your request within the statutory timeframe of 20 working days or notify
you of an extension. We are now writing to update that advice.
WorkSafe New Zealand is currently working at a reduced capacity due to the
need for WorkSafe to respond to the Covid-19 (novel coronavirus) Omicron
variant outbreak and the changes in alert levels throughout the Country.
As a result, the traffic light system level changes have put considerable
pressure on our resources. This in turn has affected our ability to make
decisions on OIA requests and readily access the information we hold
and respond within statutory time frames. Unfortunately this means that
for some requests, the statutory time frame for response has lapsed.
This email is to notify you that the time for reply to your request has
lapsed, and we have been unable to meet the time frame previously provided
to you.
We are working as quickly as possible to process your request and
appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of
uncertainty.
At this time, we anticipate to have your request ready for release on or
before 25 March 2022, however should there be any further delays we will
advise you as soon as that information comes to hand.
You have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about any failure to
respond to your request within the standard timeframes under section 28(3)
of the OIA. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with us, including this
decision, please feel free to contact [2][WorkSafe New Zealand request email].
