Traffic Camera - Convoy NZ 2022

Matahiwi made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency

The request was successful.

From: Matahiwi

Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

On Sunday 6 February and Monday 7 February large numbers of vehicles have travelled from the top of Te Ika a Maui and the southern most part of Te Waipounamu, with more vehicles joining them along their route, which will finish at Parliament in Wellington tomorrow.

Unusually a large number of the traffic camera usually accessible at https://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/traffi... have been out of action along their way. For instance, yesterday all the north facing cameras in Auckland were out as the convoy passed though, and right now as the southern convoy are coming into Picton, both cameras in Picton are out of action.

Please provide all information held by NZTA that relates to cameras and the convoy/protest, including
- all internal correspondence or records of any discussions
- any correspondence with any Minister or official in any minister’s office; and/or
- any correspondence with other government departments

Please also provide all information held by NZTA about every camera outage that occurred during the period 1 February 2022-8 February 2022, inclusive. This should include, but not be limited to:
- the start and end time of each outage by camera
- the duration of each outage for each camera;
- any records with an initial indication or finalised view on the cause of the outage
- any remedial steps taken or contemplated to avoid recurrence of the outage.

I am not seeking any reports from members of the public about the unavailability of these feeds.

Yours faithfully,
Sarah Matahiwi

Kia ora,

I do not need the names or contact details of your staff, however position titles would be useful if it is possible to do this without causing any delay.

I have deliberately limited my request to a very confined and recent time period to ensure that this is not onerous, so I do expect to receive your response as soon as possible and in any event no later than 7 March.

Thanks
Sarah
