Dear David,

Further to your request of 28 July 2014 in respect of the St Andrew
Village amenity sign, I am now able to provide the following response:

“There is a new amenity sign on Braid Road for "St. Andrew Village".

Can you please provide me details on how this sign was requested,
including when (and, if possible, by whom), the application form, the
timeline, and the cost to produce and erect the sign, and the details of
any discussions, be they in person or over electronic or other means.”

1.       The sign was requested using the Amenity Sign Application Form.

2.       A copy of the application form is attached.  However, the name
and personal details of the application have been withheld under Section
7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
– in that the release of this information release would infringe the
privacy of natural persons.

3.       After reviewing the application it was deemed to fit within the
requirements of Council Policy.  There were no special requirements or
impairments to the application.  The Policy for Street and Directional
Signage is attached with the flowchart for the Amenity Sign process.

4.       There is no set timeframe for the processing of these
applications. For this particular request, once the request was received
and there was confirmation of payment, a job was logged for the sign and
it was installed within the next week.  Total time within one month. The
job sheet for the request is also attached.

5.       The cost to supply and install the sign was $107.00, normally
this would cost $276.00.  A bracket and fixing was already in place, hence
the price was reduced for the applicant.

6.       The only electronic discussions we hold are around the payment of
the sign, these emails are attached.

If you have any concerns with the decision(s) referred to in this letter,
you have the right to request an investigation and review by the Ombudsman
under section 27(3) of the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987. For your information, the Ombudsman’s contact details

Dear Mary Birch,

Thank you for you prompt reply. I note that the original job sheet was for the sign to be located at the corner of Beerescourt and Vardon Roads (which is where it is now) but it was originally located at the corner of Taylor Tce and Braid Road. Can you advise whether this was simply human error and what cost was involved in re-locating it to the correct location?

Yours sincerely,

David Ritchie
