Plans in the event of the Queens death

Luke made this Official Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

The request was partially successful.

From: Luke

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

Elizabeth's commitment to her duty as Queen of New Zealand over the last 7 decades has been outstanding. Future New Zealanders should be able to remember and celebrate that service.

I’m concerned that when the Queen passes away, New Zealand will have only made token plans for her memorial. In my opinion, this would be a tragic result and would serve to downplay the Sovereign's indefatigable contribution to New Zealand.

To alleviate my concerns, I request the following information under the Official Information Act:

1. Please release any plans that New Zealand has in marking the death of the Queen of New Zealand.
2. Does New Zealand intend to create, or further review its plans in the future? Assuming the Queen remains healthy.

Yours faithfully,

Luke
