Marks breakdown COSC242 and COMP151
M. J. Cui made this Official Information request to University of Otago
The request was successful.
From: M. J. Cui
Dear University of Otago,
I would like to request under the Official Information Act some
information relating to student grades for COSC 242 2020, COMP 151 2021. (Note: For the papers I have selected one is for 2020 and one is for 2021)
I would like to request a statistical breakdown of the average grade
distribution for the years 2021 semester 1. For
example, 7% of students got an A+ in POLS papers, 2% got an A+ in
LAWS, 5% got an A+ in PHIL, etc.
If possible can this data please be sent in a machine-readable format where one table is for COSC242 and one table is for COMP151, so ideally in a spreadsheet format, rather than inside a PDF?
An example of the format is found in the below link.
https://fyi.org.nz/request/16249/respons...
Feel free to contact me if you want me to clarify my request.
Yours faithfully,
Mike

We acknowledge receipt of your information request dated 20 October 2021 made under the Official Information Act 1982.
Would it be possible to please clarify whether you are after grade breakdowns for the COSC242 paper in 2020 and the COMP151 paper in 2021 - i.e. the number of students that got A+, the number of students that got A, the number of students that got A-, and so on? Your request "I would like to request a statistical breakdown of the average grade distribution for the years 2021 semester 1. For example, 7% of students got an A+ in POLS papers, 2% got an A+ in LAWS, 5% got an A+ in PHIL, etc" refers to subjects different to COSC and COMP.
If you are after more specific information, could you please clarify precisely what you are looking for?
We will wait to hear back from you before we continue to process your request.

Dear UoO - Official Information Act,
Yes, grade breakdowns for the COSC242 paper in 2020 and the COMP151 paper in 2021 would be fine.
The format where it says --the number of students that got A+, the number of students that got A, the number of students that got A- and so on-- would be satisfactory.
Yours sincerely,
M. J. Cui
