Chris Milne ability to do his job

Chris Little made this Official Information request to Hutt City Council

The request was successful.

From: Chris Little

Dear Hutt City Council,

I am deeply concerned to read on Facebook that Councillor Chris Milne cannot do his job as a councillor due to restrictions placed on him. This isn’t fair on an elected councillor just trying to do his job.

Please provide a statement explaining this situation.

Councillor Chris Milne has also said that a staff member intentionally turned down the sound when he tried to participate virtually in a council meeting. This is shocking if true.

Please provide any details about this incident.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Little

Tēnā koe Chris Little,

We refer to your request dated 27 August 2021.

Please see below a response to the questions you have asked.

There are no arrangements in place which prevent Cr Milne from undertaking
his governance role.

Cr Milne raised concern regarding sound problems he had encountered during
a Committee meeting while he was participating by Zoom. The issue was
passed to the IT team. It was concluded no staff member has turned down
sound preventing Cr Milne from taking part in a Council meeting.
