Clearing backlog by virtual citizenship ceremony

Daniel made this Official Information request to Department of Internal Affairs

The request was partially successful.

From: Daniel

Dear Department of Internal Affairs,

Don't take level 4 into account, i am talking when we move to lower levels or as we moved into lower levels in past.

Is not feasible for DIA to organize a virtual citizenship ceremony and post the certificates? Everything stated on citizenship website to complete the ceremony can be achievable through virtual ceremony as well.
Speeches, Oath, National Anthem and performances

Why not the DIA department is opting for virtual ceremonies for citizenship as other countries (Australia, US and Canada) are doing for clearing the backlog?

Why not the DIA department is giving an option to an applicant whether he/she wants to attend the actual or virtual citizenship ceremony in this Covid time?

Currently which month citizenship applications are assigned to the case officers?

Yours faithfully,

Daniel
