2) Number (and if possible names) of staff at FMHS who were consulted
regarding this playbook
3) If the University of Otago School of Medicine was contacted regarding
advice of how to manage future doctors during a COVID-19 lockdown.
4) Definition of "clinically equivalent"

I refer to your email of 25 August 2021. The University’s response
follows:

 

“1) "COVID-19 Playbook for Clinical Attachments"”

 

See attached.

“2) Number (and if possible names) of staff at FMHS who were consulted
regarding this playbook”

The Playbook was designed by the Continuity Plan Planning Group (CPPG) a
subcommittee of the Board of Studies (BoS), set up in 2020. The CPPG
consists of senior academics and professional staff who deliver the MBChB.
Once in final draft, the Playbook went to the Phase groups and Heads of
School of Medicine groups for input. It then went to BoS, as the peak
governance body, which has representation from MPD, all phases, depts, a
lay member and two students . The BoS discussed it, made any
modifications, and then adopted the Playbook. The precise number and names
of staff at FMHS who were consulted regarding the Playbook are withheld as
trivial under section 18(h) of the Official Information Act.

“3) If the University of Otago School of Medicine was contacted regarding
advice of how to manage future doctors during a COVID-19 lockdown.”

Yes.

“4) Definition of "clinically equivalent"”

 

“Clinically equivalent” refers to the fact that student clinical
experiences occur on different teams, at different sites, and different
times. Despite this, they receive equivalent learning and teaching
opportunities.

 

You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
