Dear Siqi

I refer to your request dated 13 August 2019 in which you requested
information about 111 volumes and event types. Specifically you requested:

1: “I would like to request the statistics for 111 call volumes across
different regions in New Zealand 2016-2018.”

2: “I would also like to be included in the statistics the nature of the
crime reported (e.g. breaking-in, domestic incidence, assaults etc).”

We are currently considering your request in accordance with the Official
Information Act 1982.

111 call volumes are not able to be broken down into originating regions
or areas. Therefore this part of your request would likely be refused
pursuant to section 18e as the information requested does not exist or
cannot be found. We can however provide the total number of 111 calls
Police Communication Centres answered across New Zealand in each of the
years. We can also provide data tables for 2016,2017 and 2018 calendar
years which break down by Police District the total number of recorded
priority 1 and 2 events that Communication Centres received. We are unable
to separate 111 calls from other calls in our data so the tables would
include events from our emergency, traffic reporting and non-emergency
lines.

Can you please respond to this email advising if you wish to adjust your
request to over the above mentioned data.

Kind regards

Inspector Michael Coulter

Dear COULTER, Michael,

Thank you for your prompt response, your suggestion of "data tables for 2016,2017 and 2018 calendar years which break down by Police District the total number of recorded priority 1 and 2 events that Communication Centres received" is fine and I would be grateful to obtain those data.

Are those priority 1 and 2 events coded by any chance? e.g. break-in, homicides, traffic etc. I am specifically looking at the link between family violence and sporting outcome so it would be wonderful if the calls were coded by the nature of the crime/s reported.

Yours sincerely,

Siqi Liu
