Dear University of Otago,

The current edition of the Listener (dated June 26 to July 2) available from newsagents today says that the University's Christchurch based researchers have published a review of international studies on the psychosocial and physical health effect of puberty blockers as well as the ethical debates around them".

My requests to the University for the source of the published article have not met with success to date. I have asked this question of the researchers who supervised the research and the communications office to which enquiries are directed. See https://www.otago.ac.nz/news/news/otago8...

Please can you provide me with either a) location where I can find the published review or b) list of research resources that was reviewed for the study.

Yours faithfully,

Jan Rivers

We refer to your request under the Official Information Act (the Act)
dated 19 June 2021 in relation to the published review of international
studies on the psychosocial and physical health effect of puberty
blockers.

We set out our responses to each of your questions below.

 a. Location of published review

Although the New Zealand Listener article dated June 26 to July 2 states
that the review has been published, this is actually incorrect. The review
is yet to be published and the date of publication is unknown.

We therefore decline providing this information pursuant to section 18(e)
of the Act on the basis that it does not exist.

 b. List of research resources used

Please find attached a list of the references used for the review.

We trust that you will find this information useful.

We note your right to seek a review of this decision via a complaint to an
Ombudsman. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any
concerns with you first.

Kind regards

Kelsey
