Third Party Doctors and Complaints

David Nicholas made this Official Information request to Accident Compensation Corporation

The request was successful.

From: David Nicholas

Dear Accident Compensation Corporation,

I am requiring information about how ACC handles complaints about a doctor who has acted in a third party status by assessing a client. The Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) does not deal with these complaints and state that the agency that employed the third party doctor should handle the complaint.

Could you please supply a copy of any internal ACC complaints process about Third Party Doctors?

How many complaints has ACC received about Third Party doctors by year 2007-2013?

How many times has ACC referred a Third Party Doctor to the Medical Council or HDC?

Has the HDC done any audit of ACC's complaints process with regard third party Doctors and if so, what was the outcome?

Yours faithfully,

David Nicholas
